Preferred evolves even further to its current status as a for-profit stock corporation. During this decade, Preferred Hotels & Resorts develops its award-winning “Standards of Excellence™,” advances its electronic distribution platform and develops international sales offices. |

Preferred Hotels & Resorts Worldwide creates a new holding company – named IndeCorp (Independent Hotel Corporation) – as a pivotal element of a growth strategy. The new organization is designed to provide shared resources across multiple brands of independent hotels and resorts, adding cumulative strength to all through increased competitive resources, including sales, marketing and technology. IndeCorp’s mission is to protect the vitality of the independent hotel and preserve strong, differentiated brands in the global marketplace. |

IndeCorp acquires two hospitality brands, Summit Hotels & Resorts and Sterling Hotels, to compliment Preferred Hotels & Resorts in a multi-brand roster. |
| 2004 |
John Ueberroth, one of the US travel industry‘s most respected figures, becomes the largest shareholder of IndeCorp and is named Chairman of the Board and CEO. New leadership and investment supports sales and marketing initiatives and new technology while accelerating the expansion of Preferred Hotels & Resorts and its sister brands into existing and developing markets worldwide. |

IndeCorp changes its name to Preferred Hotel Group, building on the nearly 40 year tradition of excellence embodied by the Preferred name – while embracing cutting-edge strategic business and technology solutions for its member hotels and resorts. Each brand under Preferred Hotel Group has its own quality standards and market position, as well as its own distinctive attributes. Preferred Hotel Group introduces a new hospitality brand called Boutique, which combines personal service, memorable experiences and intimate surroundings with the highest level of quality.

The Preferred Hotel Group family of brands grows to encompass more than 300 of the finest hotels and resorts in 52 countries around the world. Preferred Hotel Group global brands include: Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Preferred Boutique, Summit Hotels & Resorts and Sterling Hotels.
The I Prefer™ Global Guest Benefit Program is implemented across all Preferred Hotel Group brands. Guests enjoy benefits including early check-in/late check-out, space-available upgrades and local hotel benefits from complimentary airport transportation, to “two for one” spa treatments. |

Preferred Hotel Group enhances its role as a global leader in the hospitality industry, delivering high-performance sales, marketing, and technology solutions to more than 600 independent hotels and resorts in over 65 countries. Its family of brands now represents a collection of the finest hotels in the world and includes: Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Preferred Boutique, Summit Hotels & Resorts, Sterling Hotels and Historic Hotels of America. In Fall 2007, the company enters the luxury real estate market with the launch of Preferred Residences – a membership and exchange program for luxury shared ownership resorts that provides an exceptional level of service and amenities. Properties are held to service standards derived from the same Preferred Global Standards of Excellence™ on which the company has built its 40-year reputation in the hospitality industry.
